I discovered food blogs my freshman year in college. Ezra Pound Cake, Rebecca Crump’s wonderful blog about food and her awesome life made me envious. I would stare at pictures of the chess pie she blogged about, and tried to make her whopper cookies. After awhile, I began to think–If I love this so much, why not try to do it? So I did. I created a blog my junior year…and never updated it, and never did anything with it. I decided I was a failure two weeks in, and went on my merry way. Then, a few weeks ago, I walked into the kitchen of my dorm and smelled something wonderful. I met Katie, who was cooking a cake for a friend’s birthday, and had a conversation. A few more chats lead to the idea to create this blog. So, here we go.

I had actually never read a food blog before I talked to Chelsea about starting one ourselves. I have always loved to cook, so I took a semester at the Carteret Community College Culinary School while I was on leave from UNC- Chapel Hill. After that semester I came back to the university and started making up recipes on my own as well as tweaking other recipes I happened to come across. As Chelsea said already, we met in the dorm kitchen while I was baking my favorite kind of cake (chocolate with a chocolate mousse frosting) for a hallmate’s birthday. A few batches of pumpkin bread and some biscotti later, we decided to share our wealth of knowledge! This won’t be entirely baked goods (we’ve been asked to include some real food, which is fine by us). So created due to passion and popular demand, here is NoMealPlan.

This is a wonderful way to learn how to cook in a dorm. I can’t wait for your next posting! I will need to add this link to my “delicious” site! 🙂
